Nicotine pouches and snus

Snus is a traditional Swedish product, but what is sold as snus today are tobacco-free nicotine pouches, different from snus in many ways, the main being complete absence of tobacco. The pouches are made out of plant cellulose, flavorings, preservatives, and free-form nicotine. Nicotine in these pouches stimulates the brain's receptors, releasing dopamine and serotonin. Nicotine pouches can be addictive and are not recommended for non-nicotine users. Misusing them can cause side effects such as increased heart rate and negatively affect gums as nicotine is naturally alkaline. In Europe, they are classified as "similar products", freely available but with some restrictions.

Pouches: nicotine effect

Nicotine pouches offer a mild, well balanced and long-lasting effect compared to smoking or traditional snus. At higher doses, nicotine produces a relaxed, energized feeling and a pleasant buzz. Compared to other nicotine methods, pouches have fewer side effects – however, keep in mind that long-term use may pose serious health risks.
